The William C. Becker Lawyer’s Fund of the Akron Bar Foundation provides assistance to lawyers and members of their immediate families who, because of age, illness or other circumstances find themselves in financial distress.
The Fund was established in 2006 with a donation from Professor Becker. The Fund is administered by a committee of eight members of the Akron Bar Association, including the Presidents of the Akron Bar Foundation and the Akron Bar Association. Irv Sugerman is the chairman of the Committee. An application process has been established, and the entire process is confidential. All requests for assistance should be directed to the Development Director.
The Fund seeks to ensure that its recipients have adequate housing, food and medical care to the best of the Fund’s abilities. Financial assistance may include grants, loans without interest or security, paying advances to immediate family, or after death, advancing money to the families, including the cost of burial.
The Fund is considered a 501(C)(3) organization and would welcome any donations.
If you need our assistance, or know someone who does, please contact the Development Director by email or by phone at (330) 436-0103.
